The Elevo Group’s specialist underground works company has been awarded a contract to build a tunnel at the Vilar do Monte hydroelectric power station in Viseu. The project is due to begin in October.

The main works include building a tunnel for a mini hydroelectric plant with a cross-section of 9 m2 and a length of 2,970 m, as well as building an intermediate access tunnel of around 200 m and a standpipe measuring 11 m in diameter and 24 m in depth.

All the excavation will be performed using explosives.
