Inauguration of St. Peter’s Dam and Pedrógão Aqueduct

2014-03-28 The construction work of St. Peter's Dam and Pedrógão Aqueduct performed by Hagen Engineering (Elevo Group) was inaugurated on 22nd March, World Water Day.
The ceremony was attended by the President of EDIA, the Secretary of State for Forestry and Rural Development, Francisco Gomes da Silva and Eng. Paulo Ferreira, Eng. Eduardo Amorim and the work's main responsibles on behalf of Elevo.
The Aqueduct of Pedrógão / Right Bank, of about 8500 meters long, connects the Pedrógão reservoir to San Peter's Dam, located near Baleizão.
St. Peter's Dam, with a maximum height of 24 meters, has a 753-meter long top with 7 meters wide and it creates a reservoir with a capacity of 10 million and 800 thousand cubic meters. As exploitation and safety organs it features input circuits, water inlet and ecological flow, as well as surface and bottom discharges.
The input circuit, the one that allows you to receive water from the Pedrógão reservoir was opened during the ceremony, thus marking the completion of the work and the infrastructure's operationalisation.
St. Peter's Dam will be responsible for water supply to three important blocks of Pedrógão Irrigation Sub-System, namely São Matias, São Pedro/Baleizão and Baleizão/Quintos blocks, equipped with two pumping stations and a total of about 20 hectares.
