Bituminous Mixtures with Self-Regeneration Capacity (SHERPav)
Research and Development of the "self-healing" concept applied to bituminous mixtures. Search for sustainable flooring with a significant increase in their lifetime. Being a paving's ruin due to fatigue, materialised by the cracking phenomenon, the strategic line of this research project is geared towards the prevention of its spread, ensuring its automatic / scheduled sealing, using waterproofing products introduced into a tunnel which, in its turn, is added to the bituminous mixture during its manufacturing process.
