Projects in the Aggregates and Industry sectors
a. Optimization of Drilling
Accessories
The main objective of this project
was to introduce, in an interdisciplinary perspective, a geological-structural,
geotechnical and geomechanical component of the massif to the theme of rock
drilling. The idea was to investigate the degree of interdependence between the
massif, the equipment and the choice of drilling accessories and the different
working methodologies and, simultaneously, to develop a database with possible
technical-economic future benefits in the drilling and rock blasting with
explosives practice. (Sifide 2007 and 2008)
b. Geotechnical Quality Control of
the Rocky Massif Dismantling through an aligned
drilling
It was intended to investigate to
what extent there is an interdependence between the type/scope of drilling
diversions and the geological-geotechnical parameters of massifs, the execution
tools and the geometry of the fire diagram. Through the combination of all
these parameters and their systematic and pragmatic collection, this project
also intended to develop a data base with possible technical-economic future
benefits with regard to rock blasting with explosives, in the extractive
industry. (Sifide 2008)
c. Optimization Program and Energy
Monitoring (OPEM)
This project comes from our need to
implement an optimization policy in an energy consumption level. For this
purpose, in conjunction with the Superior Institute of Engineering of Porto
(ISEP), we have created a tool capable of optimizing and monitoring the energy
used in their production centres (with specific characteristics that
distinguish them).
