Projects in the Environmental and Energy sectors
a. Inverted Anaerobic Sludge Bed Reactor
It is translated in an attempt to create an inverted
anaerobic sludge blanket (IASB), specially dedicated to the anaerobic treatment
of high load wastewater lipid-containing complexes. (SIFIDE 2007, 2008 and
2009).
b. Development of a Reactor for Anaerobic Digestion of
Effluent and Waste with high fat content
Development of a set of processes / technologies for the
anaerobic co-digestion of agricultural effluents and WWTP (Waste Water
Treatment Plant) sludge with other wastes which have a high fat content - the
Sludge Lift Reactor (SLR). For this purpose, a "lift sludge" type of anaerobic
reactor is being developed, which is based on the transient accumulation of fat
in the start-up phase, promoting the establishment of a highly specialized
microbial community to the degradation of these lipid compounds that have an
energy potential of approximately twice that of protein and carbohydrates. (SI
I & DT - Individual Project and SIFIDE 2008/ 09).
